19 March '05 - Lucky Charm pulls off a L2 Cert Flight on an AT J350W!

Lucky Charm was originally designed for one launch, the night launch at Southern Thunder 2004 in Manchester, TN. She made 4 successful day flights and 2 successful night flights under 2000' on Pro38 I-205 motors from Cessaroni. She was later fitted with an onboard camera system and has made many successful flights since then.

The nosecone was special ordered from Balsa Machining, and is attached to the rocket along with a 48" chute. The airframe was a 4.25" dia. carpet tube. Over all height is 5'2". The fins are aircraft birch(thru the wall). The motor tube is 38mm by 36" long. The nose was fitted with a Coast Guard resuce strobe with a 3 to 5 mile range for the night launch. Her weight fully loaded is around 8 - 8.5lbs.

The 4 leaf clover which was found the
day before her maiden voyage can be
seen on the side of her airframe as well.
Yes it was the biggest 4 leaf clover I've
    ever seen.
